A wonderful combination of food, music and fun every summer is produced by Smiley Pete in the form of CRAVE. This weekend, August 12th & 13th, 50 local food trucks and restaurants set up at Masterson Station Park to offer delicious morsels of their fares. I have found this is an awesome way to discover restaurants and culinary delights around town that I hadn’t yet uncovered.
I am a “Taster Extraordinaire” and Crave is so perfect for me. Attendees can purchase Crave bucks to spend as each establishment offers a $1, $3 and $5 tasting. There is no filling up on one entrée as would happen when normally visiting a restaurant. You can purchase a $1 bite here and a $3 taste there or jump in with both feet for a $5 sampling of something that looks really great!
Not only that, the festival will feature Food Performances! What is that you ask? Well, it includes Mixology demonstrations, food presentations from local chefs and foodies as well as a local hemp foods cook-off! (See list of food vendors at the bottom)
Of course there are lots of local beers and other beverages to be had. There is no shortage of sampling for the sweet tooth either with ice creams, cakes, cookies and pastries.
While strolling through the vast array of options I began to hear bells, whistles and horns. Down the aisle danced and played an eclectic group of colorful folks known as March Madness. Dancers with hula hoops led in the front with the merry band following playing tunes we all know. Horns, drums, tambourines, trumpets and more make up this fun band that is both a delight to see and hear. Throughout the day you will find the air filled with many local artists and bands including the Big Maracas, Treyvon King, Justin Wells, Big Fresh, Driftwood Gypsy & more, adding to the great atmosphere of the Crave festival.
Make a point to “like” Crave on Facebook and Instagram where you will be notified in advance to purchase discounted tickets and bypass the lines. Enter their contest and you may even when Crave bucks for the weekend!
Crave is a great place to bring the whole family with lots to do and see and taste and plenty of photo ops! You need only make one stop and then let all the great tastes of the area come to you!
